High-end technology for smart materials in medicine
News
SITEC is represented in the current issue of merlin magazine by smart3 with an article worth knowing.
The editor smart3 focuses as a European network of companies and scientific institutes the development of innovative products based on so-called “Smart Materials”.
In this context SITEC is involved on two projects in the field of micro processing:
In the “Extraplant” research project, the advantages of laser micro processing are being exploited in the field of Smart Health. In cooperation, a novel, hybrid tracheal implant was developed. It was cut from a nickel titanium sheet and embedded in a medical-textile fabric in further processing steps.
Thanks to our longstanding expertise in the field of laser technology, we are also participating in the “Zellisolator” (Cell Isolator) project. The target here is to detect rare, circulating tumor cells from peripheral blood by using a catcher element made from the shape memory alloy (SMA) nitinol.
