„WIR! sind DIANA“alliance visits SITEC

News

On March 6, representatives from science and industry met at SITEC to discuss cutting-edge technologies in point-of-care diagnostics.

The event was initiated by the DIANA alliance to discuss production-related topics, develop new project ideas, and bring partners together to shape the future of point-of-care diagnostics.

Presentations and Discussion

Dr. Jörg Lässig opened the event with his welcome speech. He emphasized the importance of the developments in Saxony. In addition, the networking of players in the field of diagnostics with industry, especially mechanical engineering, is very important as it offers enormous potential. Complex problems can be viewed from the different perspectives of different specialists in order to generate innovative solutions.

DIANA Advisory Board member Dr. Robert Möller opened the workstation with his keynote on the development and fabrication of microfluidic structures. Furthermore, experts from member companies presented their contribution to point-of-care technology in informative keynotes.

The aim is to make the most of the region's technological potential. These include micromechanical manufacturing, laser processing and plant engineering. For this reason, lectures were held on the topics of laser technologies (Peter Leipe, SITEC Industrietechnologie GmbH), automation (Kay Truxa, XENON Automatisierungstechnik GmbH), additive manufacturing (Knut Hentschel, 3D MicroPrint GmbH), micromachining (Udo Eckert, Fraunhofer IWU) and replication technologies (Dr. Lutz Weber, Wingcs GmbH) with insights into current developments and challenges.

"Together for the future"

"The event was extremely constructive and provided an ideal platform for working together on forward-looking solutions to these complex point-of-care diagnostic problems and make progress. The different perspectives of the guests from science and industry led to a valuable exchange and allow us to look to the future with optimism," says Dominique Schubert, Head of R&D at SITEC.

About the alliance "WIR! sind DIANA"

The DIANA Alliance is a concept funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the „WIR! - Wandel durch Innovation in der Region“. The aim is to establish a bundled, innovation-driven initiative for the development of high-tech medical products in the region of Central Saxony.
